Amy Mintonye is a visual artist living in Long Island City, NY. By combining collage, found objects and craft supplies with drawing, painting, and scree she subverts found imagery and recontextualizes it in new narratives.

Her life-long love affair with fiction manifests itself in her work by the use of literary devices in a visual setting. The roles of metaphor, symbolism, juxtaposition and word play are evident in her work.

The dark humor of Mintonye’s work points to weak spots in human behavior in our advancing global culture. The result is colorful, painterly and playful compositions containing stately yet dazed bucks, cowboys and Indians, and apple pie.
